FAQ
Massage FAQs
Being a midwife I will do first trimester massage when no risk factors present. This is discussed in depth at the time of booking your appointment. Generally, after the first trimester it is entirely up to your needs for massage.
Regular massage during your pregnancy is a great way to minimise the common aches and pains you may experience as your baby grows. If you need to address specific concerns then a course of massages are recommended to treat the issue (most commonly back pain as your centre of gavity adjusts to your growing baby).
I have specialised in pregnancy massage for over 20 years and also being a midwife I have vast experience in the specialised needs associated with pregnancy. I will discuss any issues you have around your changing body and offer you personalised treatment to help safely minimise discomforts.
It’s important to have a therapist who is knowledgeable and experienced in the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy. The body undergoes immense change and it is important to know why it’s happening and how to effectively and safely treat the concern.
You will be comfortably supported during the massage with pillows and bolsters, and will assume the side lying position, on the massage table. I don’t recommend having a massage using the hole for your belly as it hyperextends the sensitive uterine ligaments. The massage is finished in a semi-reclined position for a neck and scalp massage as you shouldn’t lay flat on your back after 21 weeks in your pregnancy.
Classes FAQs
I do recommend attending a labour and birth class. A class should give you relevant information so you can feel confident and supported.
I often say to couples that if you are heading up to a big moment in your life (i.e. planning your wedding, buying your first place, planning a holiday), you do your best to get the information you need to make sure you are confident in your choices. Giving birth is one of those big life moments, so the question really is: why wouldn’t you do one?
Due to small group sizes & high demand, payment is required in full at time of booking. This is non-refundable in the event of change of mind, clash with other engagements, or illness.
If you are unwell on the day with cold/flu, Covid-like symptoms on the day, please do not attend in person. Contact me as soon as possible and I will endeavour to rearrange another date for you. Medical Certificate is required.
Change of dates need to be advised as soon as possible as it will be dependent on space permitting to remain a covid-safe environment.
Request for full refunds will only be given consideration for exceptional circumstances at my discretion.
